My cartoon was drawn in response to the following article:
No tax relief for Flamborough |
Here's a little snippet:
Angry Flamborough residents are plotting a tax revolt after council reaffirmed a controversial decision to take away the suburb's subsidy. In an 8-7 decision, council voted last night to share $4 million in slot revenue instead of keeping it in Flamborough. The move means a tax increase of up to 9.8 per cent in parts of Flamborough -- more than double the rest of Hamilton.
"The war is on," a livid resident called as the crowd booed the close decision. "Shame, shame."
Anyone who has ever visited a casino is probably familiar with the "Flamin' Sevens" slot machines. The goal of this game is to line-up a 7-7-7 of matching colours to win the jackpot. With this in mind, please pardon my pun ...
"Flamborough Slots" in The Hamilton Spectator (Monday, April 28, 2008).

Looks like you captured their frustrations well. Did you add the texture in photoshop or did you take a photo of the actual printed peice and it came out with that texture?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, well done.
Thanks for your kind comments, cademan.
ReplyDeleteThe texture you describe is a result of scanning the newsprint version of the cartoon and then reducing it to fit on my webpage ... I like the look and feel of cartoons on newsprint :)
